AMES, Iowa (AP) Iowa State has hired former North Carolina assistant Troy Douglas as its new secondary coach.
The 46-year-old Douglas spent the past three seasons with the Tar Heels. Douglas has also coached the secondary at South Florida, Indiana, South Carolina State, Michigan State and SMU in a career spanning 25 years.
Iowa State coach Paul Rhoads says Douglas came highly recommended by defensive coordinator Wally Burnham, who worked with Douglas at South Florida. Rhoads also says Douglas’s experience recruiting in Florida will be crucial for the program.
The hiring of Douglas completes Iowa State’s staff for 2012.
