WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Police in Wichita are investigating vandalism to a life-size bronze sculpture in a city park.
The city’s Arts and Cultural Services Division says a resident discovered the damage to the sculpture, called “Heritage Woman,” on Wednesday. The sculpture is more than 5 feet tall and is located in Heritage Park, behind the Wichita Sedgwick-County Historical Museum.
Authorities say the sculpture was knocked off its base and broken in half. It’s not known when the damage occurred or how much the repairs will cost.
The sculpture was created by Richard Bergen, of Salina, and donated to the city of Wichita in 1976 by the local chapter of the Junior League.
