Brittany Chambers continues to put herself in exclusive company at K-State as she was selected by the LA Sparks in the second round of the WNBA Draft on Monday night. Chambers was the 22nd overall selection, and becomes the seventh Wildcat all-time to be drafted into the WNBA. She’ll join a Sparks team that went 24-10 last season, and advanced to the Western Conference Finals. In her K-State career, Chambers finished as one of just four players at Big 12 schools to register 2,000 career points, 850 career rebounds and 350 career assists.
Former Wildcat post player Jalana Childs also will get an opportunity in the WNBA as she was invited to the training camp of the Phoenix Mercury. Childs could be the backup for Baylor’s Brittany Griner, who was selected by the Mercury with the #1 overall pick. Childs completed her K-State career in the 2011-12 season as she averaged 14.3 points and 5 rebounds per game. She spent last season playing for a professional team in Israel.
