ESPN announced the bracket for the upcoming Puerto Rico Tipoff, and K-State will tip off the entire tournament on Thursday, November 21st against Charlotte at 9:30am central time. The Cats would play either Georgetown or Northeastern on Friday, November 22nd, potentially in the semifinals. K-State would then face either defending national runner-up Michigan, VCU, Florida State, or Long Beach State in the final game on Saturday, November 23rd.
K-State returns six players who saw significant action last season led by seniors Shane Southwell and Will Spradling, along with juniors Thomas Gipson and Nino Williams. The Cats saw three underclassmen transfer, most notably all-Big 12 point guard Angel Rodriguez, plus Adrian Diaz and Michael Orris. Coach Bruce Weber signed five freshmen for the 2013-14 roster, guards Marcus Foster, Jevon Thomas and Nigel Johnson, and forwards Wesley Iwandu and Jack Karapetyan. Maine transfer Justin Edwards and Georgetown transfer Brandon Bolden must sit out next season due to NCAA rules.
