The Big 12 Conference announced Monday morning that K-State and Texas will kick off at 7:00pm in Austin on Saturday night, September 21st. The game between the Cats and Longhorns will be televised nationally by ABC for the second straight season.
K-State extended their winning streak to five against Texas with a 42-24 victory last December that sealed up the 2012 Big 12 championship.
Both the Cats and Longhorns are 1-1, as the Longhorns are licking their wounds following a 40-21 rout at the hands of BYU. Defensive coordinator Manny Diaz was fired after the Cougars gashed Texas for 550 rushing yards. Diaz will be replaced by Greg Robinson, who was the Longhorns’ defensive coordinator in 2004. Robinson also was head coach at Syracuse from 2005-2009, and was the Chiefs’ DC from 2001-2003.
K-State will conlcude non-conference play this Saturday when they host UMass at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Kickoff is 6:10pm, and Powercat Gameday starts at 2:00pm from the new Cat Town on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN.
