The K-State women silenced the home crowd at Allen Fieldhouse with an astounding 21-0 lead right out of the gate, and then withstood a Jayhawk rally for a 76-68 victory in the Sunflower Showdown. The Cats saw KU pull within two points twice in the second half, but held them off down the stretch.
Leti Romero scored 26 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out seven assists, and came up with three steals. Kindred Weseman added 15 points. Ashlyn Knoll had 12 points off the bench, and Lawrence Free State grad Chantay Caron had 10.
K-State will travel to face #15 Oklahoma State on Saturday at 2:00pm. The game will be joined on NewsRadio 1350 KMAN right after Wildcat baseball.
