Former K-State standout Evan Marshall (1-0) struck out two and pitched 1 1-3 innings of scoreless relief in his major league debut to earn the victory as the Arizona Diamondbacks rallied past the Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 on Tuesday night at Miller Park.
Marshall was promoted to the D-Backs earlier on Tuesday after a stellar start to the season at triple-A Reno. He entered the game in the bottom of the sixth inning with two Brewers on and two out, and got Carlos Gomez to ground out to short. Marshall then struck out the first two batters in the seventh before inducing a comebacker to the mound from Aramis Ramirez.
Arizona scored three runs in the top of the 8th to put Marshall in position for the win.
