Erica Young scored a career high 13 points as Kansas State used a 38-17 run on their way to a 65-36 over UMKC Tuesday night at Bramlage Coliseum in the first meeting between the two schools in eight years.
After a slow start, the Wildcats battled to a 29-13 halftime lead and then turned up the heat in the second half allowing the Kangaroos to score just 23 points. To go along with her point total, Young also had seven rebounds, four blocks and three steals. Two other Wildcats scored in double figures as Haley Texada and Ashia Woods poured in 11 points apiece.
Kansas State (2-0) will look to remain perfect under new coach Jeff Mittie when the Wildcats return to the Bramlage hardwood on Friday night to take on Hampton University. It’s the final game before a Thanksgiving week trip to Puerta Vallarta, Mexico. Tipoff on Friday is set for 7 p.m.
