This weekend Wamego saw an influx of well over 11 thousand visitors as the 26th annual Kansas Sampler took over Wamego City Park. Organizers say the festival highlights what there is to see, do , hear, taste, buy and learn in Kansas. Festival officials say it serves to preserve the history of the diverse elements seen in the state over the centuries.
Festival founder Marci Penner says it brings the best of Kansas to one location to educate those who want to see the many opportunities available in Kansas. Penner’s father, Milfred Penner, hosted the beginnings of the festival in 1990 as a book signing party on the family farm for a daytrip tourism guide. Eventually it has grown to its current size, and travels all around the state year after year. For more information on the upcoming festivals, and history, you can visit kansassampler.org.
