A Manhattan man found guilty a few months ago by a Riley County Jury on several drug-related charges has been sentenced to 142 months with the Kansas Department of Corrections. Eric Lipp was sentenced Monday, with 136 months for possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute. An additional six months was added since the jury found Lipp used a firearm in furtherance of the drug offenses.
Sentences on other charges, which included possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, drug paraphernalia, and criminal possession of a firearm are to run concurrently. In addition, Lipp’s Riley County sentence will run consecutively to Shawnee and Douglas County sentences.
The defendant’s request for an appeal bond was denied and a motion to depart from sentencing requirements was also denied.
Lipp was found guilty after a one day jury trial in April. Riley County Police reports indicated in August of last year the 43-year-old was arrested along with two other suspects following an investigation by Riley County Police into the distribution of meth, cocaine, and other controlled substances. All three were arrested near the 2100 block of Mike’s Place in Manhattan and the 200 block of Riley Avenue in Ogden.
