Fatal Crash on 177

A 49-year-old Manhattan man died in  a truck/bicycle accident Thursday evening. Mark Jilka was riding a bicycle when he was struck from behind by a 2007 Dodge Pickup on K-177 shortly after 7 p.m.
 
According to the Kansas Highway patrol, the pickup, driven by Derik Kesler, 32, Rossville, was also southbound on the right shoulder when the accident occurred. The bicyclist came to rest in a west ditch, with the truck remaining on the shoulder. Kesler was not injured.
 
Jilka’s body was taken to the Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home in Manhattan

According to the Riley County Police Department, the Kansas Highway Patrol responded to a Fatal crash involving a pickup truck and bicyclist in the 3200 block of 177 highway.

The accident occurred at approximately 7:30 p.m and the inside lane of 177 heading south is closed while officers investigate the situation. Please Drive with caution.
