    Freel Homicide Related Court Updates

    Micheal Blake Layne appeared by video from Riley County jail in Riley County District court Tuesday afternoon to set a preliminary court date.

    19 year old Layne is charged with the 1st degree murder of 31 year old Steve R. Freel, and is scheduled to appear on the 10th of February at 1pm in Judge William Malcolm’s magistrate court.

    Layne’s case is tied into at least five other ongoing cases under investigation, and in the early trial phases, were also heard on Tuesday afternoon.

    41 year old Domingo Alfredo Soto is charged with conspiracy to commit 1st degree murder of Steve Freel, and his next court date will be on December 27th at 1pm in Judge Malcolms’ court.

    During interviews related to the initial homicide investigation an armed robbery that involved Layne and 18 year old Reyna Youdath, and 25 year old Areale Hanks allegedly were discovered.

    Youdath’s first appearance in Riley County court will be in the 17th of January at 2pm in Magistrate court room 2.  Youdath has been charged with aggravated robbery, and conspiracy to commit aggravated robbery.

    While waiting for a search warrant RCPD also arrested 19 year olds  Devin, and Tevin Bruce who were reportedly attempting to burglarize Layne’s residence and remove evidence of Layne’s crimes.

    Devin Bruce is being charged with Conspiracy to commit Burglary, obstruction of the legal process, aiding a felon, and possession of marijuana.  Tevin Bruce is being charged with burglary conspiracy, obstruction of the legal process, and aiding a felon.  Both Bruce Brothers are appearing in Riley County court on the 17th of January at 1 p.m.
