Progress continues to be made in the trial of Luis Arguirre. Aguirre is charged with capital murder in the deaths of 18 year old Tanya Maldonado and her 15 month old son, Juan Luis Maldonado in October of 2009.

On Friday afternoon, three more motions were made by the defense attorneys with the first two being rejected by Judge Meryl Wilson in Riley County District Court.

The third motion consisted of a number of emails that were brought into evidence during the previous motions hearing. Both sides as well as Judge Wilson decided the best way to evaluate each was to go through them one by one.

After evaulating each, Judge Wilson denied several motions by the defense as well as redacting several others.

Next, a juror questionaire was approved to be issued on May 29th when the jury selection process begins. After taking the questionaire, the court will narrow the list of jurors to 18.

Other date items were discussed including the beginning trial date which was set for June 18th the trial is expected to last 3 to 5 weeks.

Another motions hearing has been set for the February 1st at 9am.
