Debbie Nuss announced her candidacy for the Manhattan city commission today. Nuss describes herself as a seasoned member and office holder in numerous local organizations, as well as a well known community volunteer. There are four priorities that frame Nuss’ campaign: accountability and efficiency in government, economic development and growth, local and regional cooperation, and quality of life investments.
Nuss has lived in the Manhattan area for nearly 25 years. She currently serves on the Manhattan/Riley County Preservation Alliance and Flint Hills Human Rights Project boards of directors and is a newly appointed member to the Riley County Health Department Advisory Board. She was co-Chair of Save Our Social Services and is past president of the League of Woman Voters of Manhattan/Riley County. She served on the USD 383 Board of Education from 1994-1999 and was board President from 1998-1999.
Nuss has a masters and a bachelors degree from Kansas State University. She works part time at the Riley County Senior Services Center as a Project Coordinator and also manages a consulting business jointly owned with her husband.
