After a two-year drought with no teams advancing to Omaha, the Big 12 sends three teams to the College World Series field for just the second time in conference history as Texas, Texas Tech and TCU are all in Omaha this weekend.
The Longhorns, with the most all-time CWS appearances with 35, will kick off the double-elimination tournament against UC Irvine on Saturday afternoon at 3:00pm.
The Red Raiders meanwhile are making their first appearance, and will open against the Horned Frogs on Sunday at 3:00.
The other time three Big 12 teams went to Omaha was 2005 with Baylor, Nebraska, and Texas. The league went 8-4 in the CWS, and the Longhorns claimed the national championship that season.
