    McPherson man arrested for multiple drug offenses

    Members of the Riley County Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit arrested a McPherson man for several drug offenses on October 1, 2014 at approximately 11:40 PM. This arrest comes after an ongoing investigation into the distribution of illegal drugs in the Manhattan and Riley County Area.

    Melvin Kirk, 61, of 1983 Navajo Road, McPherson, Kansas was arrested in the 900 block of Pottawatomie in southern Manhattan by detectives. He was arrested for possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of drug paraphernalia at the felony level, and interference with law enforcement. Kirk was given a bond of $15,000.00 and at the time of this release he was confined at the Riley County Jail.

    As a result of this arrest approximately 8 grams of cocaine with a street level value of $600.00 and approximately 72 grams of marijuana with a street level value of $750.00 were seized. There is no further information to be released.
