By KMAN Staff on January 12, 2018 Local News, Manhattan

The T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter is closed while undergoing interior renovations. according to a press release from the City of Manhattan.

The animal shelter will still accept animal surrenders and process reclaims during this time, however, adoptions will be on hold until the Shelter re-opens Tuesday.

Renovations include new flooring throughout the building, as well as portions of the building, are being repainted. All care areas of the animals will not be affected by the installation.

“We want the community to know we are still here to help care for the animal population at this time, however, due to the extensive nature of receiving new flooring, it is not conducive to public traffic. We appreciate your patience while we receive these upgrades,” said Eddie Eastes, Director of Manhattan Parks and Recreation.

The renovations are being paid for through private donations to the Shelter.

“We are grateful for community support to make improvements like this possible. These improvements will help the overall environment of the T. Russell Reitz Animal Shelter and welcome the public to come see the improvements when this project is complete,” said Eastes.
