Multiple residents have filed to run for city government or school board positions since early April. The deadline to file state-wide is June 3 at noon.
In the City of Manhattan, Maximus employee Kaleb James joined former Manhattan-Ogden USD 383 School Board member Aaron Estabrook in filing to run for city commission. Three seats will be on the ballot for Manhattan. Commission positions currently held by Mike Dodson, Linda Morse and Jerred McKee are up for grabs in November. Mayor Dodson and Commissioner McKee are not seeking re-election.
Current Ogden City Councilor Eladio Reid, Jr. has joined current Mayor Robert Pence, Jr. in filing to run to be Ogden’s mayor. Reid and fellow councilors Ed Burch and Ken Carrol have filed to run for re-election to the council. Two seats held by Councilors Roger Graham and Quinn Jacobs will also be on the ballot in November.
The City of Riley will be voting for its mayor as well as two council positions — all of which have four-year terms. The City of Randolph will have six seats available including its mayor in November. The city of Leonardville will also vote for its mayor and three city councilors. No candidates have filed to run for seats in Riley, Randolph, or Leonardville at the time of this report.
Four seats on the school boards of Manhattan-Ogden USD 383, Blue Valley-Randolph USD 384 and USD 378 Riley County Schools are all on the ballot as well. Currently, Kristin Brighton of New Boston Creative Group has filed to run for USD 383 and SMH Consultants Vice-President Jeff Hancock has filed to run for USD 378.
