Fort Riley and the 1st Infantry Division will be sending additional troops to Europe.

An estimated 300 soldiers will be deployed soon as part of the additional seven thousand troops announced a few weeks ago by the Department of Defense.

These Soldiers will join the Division’s forward deployed headquarters in Europe, which previously had about 80 Soldiers from 1st Infantry Division Headquarters. Those soldiers were originally deployed in support of the Atlantic Resolve rotation in July 2021.

The additional troops will be tasked under U.S. command and control to serve across Europe. 1st Infantry Division soldiers will reinforce European allies as needed, especially on the eastern flank of NATO.
