ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (Kansas State Athletics) – The Kansas State women’s golf team is tied for 11th place after 36 holes of action on Monday at the Dick McGuire Invitational.

The Wildcats total sits at 22-over par 598 after carding consecutive 11-over par 299 rounds on the par-72, 6,354-yard UNM Championship Course.

Manon Donche-Gay leads the Cats on the leaderboard in a tie for 34th place at 4-over par 148. She shot a 1-over par 73 opening round and a 3-over par 75 second round.

One stroke behind her is Gabriela McNelly, who had a promising even-par 72 second round to pair with a 5-over par 77 first round, bringing her 36-hole total to 5-over par 149 and into a tie for 45th place.

Haley Vargas is tied for 58th place at 7-over par 151 after carding a 3-over par 75 first round and a 4-over par second round. Remington Isaac is right behind her at 8-over par 152 with back-to-back 4-over par 76 rounds. That score puts Isaac in a tie for 63rd place.

Moving down one stroke further is Napua Glossner in a tie for 72nd place at 9-over par 153 after a 3-over par 75 opening 18 and a 6-over par 78 second round.

“I’m proud of Gabriela. She played very well this afternoon,” said head coach Kristi Knight. “It was not a great day as far as the team score, but they batted. Haley and Remington played under par golf their last eight holes. We have a chance tomorrow to move up the leaderboard.”

Ohio State has a commanding six-stroke lead at 10-under par 566, while Mayka Hoogeboom of Kent State is atop the 92-player individual leaderboard at 9-under par 135.

The Wildcats will hope to make their push when play in Albuquerque resumes Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. with the final 18 holes. Fans can follow live scoring on Golfstat.com.
