Manhattan resident Audrey Swartz has become the ninth person to file for the USD 383 school board election.
According to a Friday release, Swartz is a strong advocate for equitable education for all students, noting interest in expanding the district’s recently implemented personalized learning.
She also aims to increase availability of mental health services for USD 383 students and teachers. As an indigenous person, Swartz says she will also advocate for the removal of Manhattan’s Indian mascot.
Swartz is a 7-year resident of Manhattan. She is currently the Readers Advisory Librarian at Manhattan Public Library.
Swartz graduated from Stephens College with a Bachelor of Arts in Law, Philosophy, and Rhetoric and from Wayne State University with a Master of Science in Library and Information Sciences.
