MANHATTAN, Kansas (K-State Athletics) – Former K-State two-sport standout Peyton Williams will begin her fourth season of basketball in Europe in 2023-24, as she will play for PEAC-Pecs in Hungary.
This is Williams’ first season with PEAC-Pecs and she is averaging 10.7 points on a .591 field goal percentage, 5.3 rebounds, 0.7 steals and 0.7 blocks through three games.
She helped PEAC-Pecs to a season-opening 82-43 win on September 30 in the Hungary-A Division with eight points and five rebounds at Cegledi. In the team’s second game on October 3, Williams tallied nine points and a team-high nine rebounds in a loss against Szekszardi Szabadidokozpont. In her third game, Williams carded 15 points, two rebounds and two blocks in a 90-80 win over TFSE-MTK.
Last season, the product of Topeka, Kansas, played for Uni Gyor in the Hungary-A Division and helped the team to a 19-3 overall record and a runner-up finish in the 2023 Hungary-A Division finals. Williams averaged 9.0 points on a.579 field goal percentage, 5.4 rebounds, 1.6 assists and 1.2 steals per game.
Prior to her time in Hungary, Williams played a season in France with Hainut in 2021-22. Williams averaged 8.9 points on a .431 field goal percentage, 6.5 rebounds, 1.5 assists and 1.3 steals.
Williams began her professional career immediately after the conclusion of her career at K-State. She played her first season in Europe with Spartak Vidnoe in Russia during the 2020-21 season and averaged 14.0 points on a .667 field goal percentage, 8.0 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 1.3 blocks and 1.0 steals.
As a women’s basketball and volleyball student-athlete letter winner at Kansas State, Williams was the first student-athlete in Big 12 history to earn All-Big 12 honors in both women’s basketball and volleyball during her career. Among her many women’s basketball honors, Williams was a two-time All-Big 12 First Team recipient and named to every national award watch list during the 2019-20 season.
Williams completed her career as the first player in program history with the combination of 1,500 or more points, 900 or more rebounds, 200 or more assists, 150 or more steals and 100 or more blocks. She ranks among the top-15 in program history for career points (9th; 1,553), rebounds (3rd; 967), blocks (5th; 119), field goals made (10th; 585) and free throws made (5th; 333).
In volleyball, Williams garnered 2019 All-Big 12 Second Team and was selected to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team in 2017.
In addition to her on-court honors in both sports, Williams was just as stellar as a double major in anthropology and international studies with a minor in political science. Prior to her graduation in May, she collected a number of academic honors including: 2020 Senior CLASS Award All-America Second Team (women’s basketball), 2020 CoSIDA Academic All-America Second Team (women’s basketball), four CoSIDA Academic All-District VII honors (women’s basketball and volleyball), six-time Academic All-Big 12 First Team, a two-time Big 12 Women’s Basketball Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the 2019 Big 12/Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award recipient and 2016-17 Big 12 Academic All-Rookie Team.
