The 1st Infantry Division from Fort Riley will deploy approximately 200 Soldiers to the southern border as part of a mission to protect and defend the territorial integrity of the United States. The deployment, directed by the President, will support Customs and Border Protection’s efforts at the border.

Under the direction of U.S. Northern Command and Joint Task Force North, the 41st Combat Engineer Company-Armored and the 977th Military Police Company will join the 2,500 forces already stationed at the border. These forces are tasked with augmenting ongoing operations to enhance border security.

This deployment reflects the continued military support to the U.S. Border Patrol in their mission to secure the southern border.
