    Local butcher shop scammed out of $60K in email scam

    The company Meat Works of Kansas has been scammed out of $60,000 in an internet scam.

    RCPD filed a report for theft by deception on Tuesday in the 300 block of Main Street in Riley when it was reported the business was scammed through an email into buying 15,000 pounds of ground beef from an unknown subject.

    On its website, Meat Works describes itself as a “well established and respected provider of custom Wagyu beef processing and purveying services.” The company provides beef to the Booth Creek Wagyu chain.

    At this time, officers have no further information in the case but is encouraging anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers.
