by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV After going undrafted in Thursday’s NBA Draft, former K-State guard Markquis Nowell agreed to a two-way contract with the Toronto Raptors. Nowell started his collegiate career at UA-Little Rock, before transferring to K-State for his final two seasons playing one year for Bruce Weber and being one of only two players on the roster when Jerome Tang took over the Wildcats. Nowell was a strong role player behind Nijel Pack in his first season at K-State, averaging 12.4 points per game and shooting 31% from three with 5.0 assists per game. In his…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV As most rosters in the Big 12 near capacity, we have a clearer idea of what the teams might look like in year one of the “new but old Big 12.” Below, I will take a crack at ranking the teams 1-14 and giving a little info on each as best as I can. One thing to note about the Big 12 this upcoming season, six teams have top 30 recruiting classes and of the nine teams that have a high school recruit in the class of 2023, seven are inside…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV After visiting K-State over the June 9th weekend, former Creighton forward Arthur Kaluma has committed to K-State. A 6’7″ junior-to-be, Kaluma played his first two seasons in the Big East for Creighton, where he started 67/68 games for the Blue Jays and averaged over 10 points per game, as well as six rebounds per contest. Kaluma was highly sought after once he entered the transfer portal and backed out of the NBA Draft. Both Kentucky and Alabama were expecting and working on getting visits from Kaluma this coming week. The value…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV On Wednesday the Big 12 and its TV partners announced start times for (almost) all non-conference games, plus certain conference games. K-State’s three non-con games are set to kickoff at 6:00 PM against SEMO, and a pair of 11:00 AM kicks against Troy and Missouri. The Big 12 has some significant non-con games in 2023, here are my top five picks. HONORABLE MENTIONS Not every game marquee non-con game can fit on this list and while some games that are left off might be significant or important for one reason or…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV On Wednesday afternoon the Big 12 and K-State announced game times for a handful of games in the 2023 season. For the Wildcats, their three non-conference games were unveiled as well as their Friday night game to be played at Oklahoma State in early October. K-State will start their season at home against SEMO on September 2nd with a night kickoff and televised game on ESPN+. The last time K-State didn’t play their game against an FCS opponent at 6:00 PM was in 2009 against Tennessee Tech, but the Wildcats…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV On Friday afternoon the NBA’s Fitness to Play Panel officially cleared K-State’s Keyontae Johnson medically for his participation in the NBA Draft. Johnson started his college basketball career at Florida, where he played two full seasons before collapsing in the fourth game of his junior season against Florida State. Johnson would eventually be diagnosed with “Athlete’s Heart,” which is an increase in cardiac mass due to systematic training that can lead to sudden death. Johnson sat out the rest of the 2020-2021 season and all of 2021-2022, not being medically cleared…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV K-State could still look into the transfer portal to fill out their roster for 2023, but it would have to be a very precise need and fit. The portal entry window has also closed now and will not open back up until after the regular season comes to an end near the end of the calendar year. The only players that could enter the portal now are grad transfers. With that in mind, let’s take a look at who the most impactful transfer additions to the Wildcats’ roster will be in…

Other schools are starting to get start times leaked for the start of the season or later games, due to TV designations. Here is a look at my projections for start times for each of K-State’s football games in 2023. I have also added the network I expect the game to be televised on, which I feel less confident about. by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV On Wednesday, K-State sent their 2023 transfer count to six by adding Minnesota transfer quarterback Jacob Knuth. Knuth is a player that the Wildcats had an interest in coming out of high school before he committed to PJ Fleck and Minnesota, but entered the portal after redshirting and not seeing any action in 2022 for the Golden Gophers. Knuth is now the fifth quarterback on the roster. In addition to Knuth now, the Wildcats have Will Howard (two years left), Jake Rubley (three years left), Adryan Lara (four years left) and Avery Johnson (four years left). ***SEE K-STATE’S SCHOLARSHIP…

by Mason Voth • EMAWOnline – Managing Editor – @TheRealMasonV On the heels of one transfer defensive back committing to K-State on Friday evening, the Wildcats added another. 2023 FCS opponent of K-State from SEMO, Tyler Nelome. Nelome had 25 tackles, one interception and four pass breakups in the 2022 season for the Redhawks and will help fill a defensive back void after K-State lost a number of players to graduation, and others like Julius Brents and Josh Hayes to the NFL Draft. K-State was one of many schools at the FBS level that had interest in Nelome after he…
