Another student has been arrested for making a threat. The Junction City Police Department announced late Tuesday afternoon a Junction City Middle School Resource Officer was advised of a student making a threat while in class. The 15-year-old student was taken into custody, interviewed and arrested on charges of criminal threat and transported to the Juvenile Detention Center. The JCPD is stressing to the public that it will be treating all threats as credible and will act accordingly and will continue to work closely with USD 475 to keep children safe. Officers responded to the report of an injury accident near the intersection of McDowell Creek Rd. and Pillsbury Dr. in Manhattan on February 27, 2018 at approximately 6:25 AM. When officers arrived on scene, they found a Gray 2005 Mazda driven by Curtis German, 54, of Manhattan collided with a Gray 2000 Toyota Camry driven by Paul Stuckwisch, 46, of Manhattan. Updated: Wednesday, 4:09 p.m. The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has identified the alleged carjacker shot and killed by police Monday evening in Wamego as 25-year-old Ethan M. Straub, the agency said in an email sent to KMAN Wednesday afternoon. KBI said Straub is from Wamego. In 2011, Straub, along with three other teens, were facing charges for burglary in Wamego. WICHITA — A new government report estimates that nearly half of the winter wheat crop in Kansas is struggling for lack of adequate moisture. The National Agricultural Statistics Service reported Monday that 49 percent of the wheat is in poor to very poor condition. It rated the remaining crop as 39 percent fair, 11 percent good and 1 percent excellent. That assessment comes amid estimates that topsoil moisture supplies are running short to very short across 74 percent of Kansas. Subsoil moisture levels were faring only slightly better with 71 percent rated as short to very short.
