Updated: Tuesday, 11:36 a.m. The K-State Black Student Union is urging the Riley County Police Department to press charges against 21-year-old Dauntarius Williams of Manhattan. Williams, a black man, is the owner of the car vandalized last week with racist graffiti near the campus of Kansas State University. He admitted to authorities he was the one responsible for the act, according to a press release from the Riley County Police Department Monday afternoon. The Riley County Police Department has released a description of a man suspected in a shooting Monday afternoon near the University Crossing apartment complex in Manhattan. Officers listed an adult male as the victim when it was reported an unknown suspect tried to rob him, then shot him in the 2200 block of College Avenue at approximately 4:20 p.m. The suspect is described as a man approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall, medium to heavy build, wearing a black ski mask and a sweatshirt. Riley County Clerk Rich Vargo informed county commissioners Monday morning 1,615 people have cast advance ballots leading up to Tuesday’s cities and schools general election. “That is an increase over two years ago, which is a good sign,” Vargo said. Three Manhattan city commission seats are on the ballot, along with three school board seats for USD 383. The City of Manhattan is also asking citizens to renew a “Quality of Life” parks and recreation sales tax set to expire on Jan. 1, 2018. LINDSBORG — A 4-year-old dog who escaped at a Kansas rest stop while en route to his new adoptive home in Seattle has been found after three months. The Salina Journal reports that Domino is a black-and-white Border Collie-Labrador mix who was saved from a high-kill shelter in Texas. Domino was eventually adopted by Katie Aretz, a Seattle resident who found him online. But on his way to Aretz, Domino escaped from his crate Aug. 3 at a rest stop in Lindsborg and was missing for several months. A St. Marys man was injured in a plane crash in Pottawatomie county late Sunday morning.  William Linn, 71, was piloting a T-Bird 2 fixed wing aircraft, which  was enroute to Lyndon near Pomona Lake. The aircraft had engine problems when a propeller broke, losing power and crashing before reaching the airfield. Linn was taken to Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center  and a passenger,  Alan Drennon, 64, of Topeka, was taken to Stormont Vail in Topeka. The accident was reported just a few minutes before noon 500 yards Southwest of 5330 Sumner Court in northeast Pottawatomie County.

Updated: Sunday, 1:31 p.m. A Junction City man is in the Riley County Jail for the suspected theft of a police car. Anthony Kenneth Johnson, 32, was taken into custody by the Riley County Police Department at 2:30 a.m. Saturday. According to the RCPD, officers were conducting a traffic stop near the intersection of 5th and Yuma in Manhattan Friday at approximately 6:40 p.m. when multiple people in the stopped car fled. Johnson was one of those individuals and allegedly took the police cruiser. Police say they recovered the vehicle a short time later. Johnson’s charges also included criminal possession…

Kansas State’s first second-half comeback win since 2015 didn’t come a moment too soon. With bowl eligibility in question and trailing by 11 points in the fourth quarter, the outlook was bleak for the Wildcats Saturday afternoon at Texas Tech. A few good plays and a couple fortunate breaks later, K-State topped the Red Raiders 42-35 in overtime. K-State (5-4, 3-3 Big 12) started the game well, leading 17-7 in the second quarter.
