Kansas State University President Richard B Meyers has issued a statement on the recent racist vandalism that occurred on Wednesday Myers says that he wanted to make sure his message to the student leadership is clear. His message is to ensure the safety of those affected by the attack. He then called for the immediate increase of patrols and visible presence on campus by the K-State Police Department . Two men were arrested Wednesday night in connection with a rape that occurred in Geary County last week. Geary County Sheriff’s Detectives and Fort Riley Criminal Investigations Division, located a vehicle believed to belong to the suspects. Further investigation led to the arrest of Wayne Harry Harris, 20, of Fort Riley, and Corey Lee Horman, 20, also of Fort Riley. Both suspects are currently being held in the Geary County Detention Center and being held without bond for rape, kidnapping, and conspiracy to commit rape. A Wamego woman was killed Wednesday morning following a collision on I-70 in Junction City near Washington Street, according to the Junction City Police Department. Officers located a 2007 Mini Cooper, driven by 23-year-old Jacey Cantrell, in the ditch on the eastbound side of I-70 just after 7 a.m. Cantrell was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by Junction City Fire. Cantrell was transported to Geary Community Hospital where she was pronounced deceased a short time later. Riley County Police arrested a Topeka man Tuesday afternoon on drug-related charges. Dondi Walker, 47, of Topeka was taken into custody in the 300 block of Poyntz Avenue just before 4:30 p.m.. He was arrested on charges of possession of methamphetamine, felony drug paraphernalia and drug paraphernalia. The Riley County Police Department is asking the public for information regarding four local burglaries, according to a press release from the department Tuesday. The first three burglaries occurred between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. Sunday morning in the 3300 block of Anderson Avenue at Goblin Games, Debonaire Hair Salon and Legends Sports Bar. The fourth occurred around 6:30 a.m. in the 2300 block of Stagg Hill Road at the Asian Market. Surveillance video from the businesses indicates at least two individuals are involved.
