A Wamego teenager has been sentenced in connection with a June sixth incident outside Wamego that received a lot of attention and involved a juvenile over the age of 14. Jace Ward, 18, received a six month underlying sentence on each of the two counts he entered a plea to–driving under the influence and furnishing alcohol to a minor. The two sentences are to run concurrently and Ward was ordered to pay fines and costs. He is on 12 months probation and will serve 48 hours in the Pottawatomie County Jail. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has rescinded a boil water advisory for the public water supply located in the City of St. George, Pottawatomie County. The advisory affected all customers last Thursday on 2nd Street, 3rd Street, Jefferson Street, and Jackson Street. KDHE officials issued the advisory because of a loss of pressure. Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination. An April 23, 2018 trial has been set for a Manhattan man charged with leaving the scene of a hit-and-run accident in April. Nicholas Blaha’s arraignment was held Monday in Riley County District court. Blaha is also charged with aggravated battery and was named a suspect in May in the case involving Amber Wilhelm, who suffered serious injuries after being struck while crossing Bluemont Avenue in Manhattan on foot shortly before two a.m. April 14th of this year. Officers listed Brian Turner, 23, of Manhattan as the victim when he reported an unknown suspect took his 2009 Nissan Altima. The total loss associated with this case is approximately $7,500. Kansas State’s eighth straight bowl game appearance will feature the Wildcats’ third trip to Arizona during that stretch, according to a source close to the program. The news was confirmed at 3:20 p.m. by the bowl’s official Twitter account. The Wildcats (7-5) will play UCLA (6-6) in a rematch of the 2014 Alamo Bowl, which the Bruins won 40-35. Several area cases are up for public comment in lists just released by the Kansas Department of Corrections. Shakeer Davis, 38,who was convicted of murder in the first degree and other charges in 1997, is on the public comment list for March of 2018, prior to an April parole hearing. Davis is one of three people convicted in connection with the February 1997 murder in Riley County of Wanda Norman at her home at Countryside estates.
