HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) A Hutchinson man pleaded guilty to the shooting death of a Kansas State Fair worker. Michael Brisco on Wednesday pleaded guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the September 2013 death of Sem Adrien of Chicago. Brisco was originally charged with alternate counts of first- and second-degree murder and four other charges. The Hutchinson News reports attorneys will recommend Brisco get a cumulative sentence of 15 years in prison. Adrein went to Brisco’s home to get a haircut. Riley County police and emergency crews were on the scene Wednesday evening, after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle. Officers found that a truck driven by 32-year-old Jessica Kohrs collided with 54-year-old Polly Gantenbein while she was in the roadway. Gantenbein sustained an injury to the head and was transported to Via Christi Hospital by Riley County EMS. The accident occured in the 2800 block of Anderson Ave. near the intersection of Garden Way and caused a delay in traffic. No citations have been issued and officers continue to investigate the collision.
Police arrested Cody Jones, 19, of Leonardville, Kansas on January 13, 2016 at approximately 12:15 PM on a warrant for the offenses of burglary, making false writing, and theft of property or services. He was given a bond of $5,000.00 and at the time of this report was confined at the Riley County Jail. No further information was readily available at the time of publication. The state may not have crowned any billionaires after Wednesday night’s Powerball drawing, but some residents of Northeast Kansas could still cash in. Three tickets worth $50,000.00 were sold in the region, with four more sold in other parts of the state. Two $1 million tickets were sold in the southwest and south-central portions of the state. There is no word on which cities the three $50,000.00 tickets were sold in, but if you bought one in the area you may not have to give up hope of being part of the historic drawing – just yet.
