The Kansas Court of Appeals has vacated a Riley County sentence and remanded it back to the local court with directions, in a case involving alleged battery against a law enforcement officer. In State of Kansas v. Tracey Jerome Toliver, the state court reversed Toliver’s felony conviction and his sentence was vacated. Local officials had plenty to talk about recently as Riley County Commissioners, Manhattan city leaders and Pottowatomie County commissioners discussed the future of transit in the region during their joint city/county/county meeting. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Wichita city officials have chosen Duluth, Minnesota’s police chief to lead the largest police force in Kansas. The city announced Friday that 43-year-old Gordon Ramsay will become Wichita’s new police chief on January 28th. He will be paid $170,000 a year. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) The University of Kansas will attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the largest gathering of people wearing holiday sweaters during the first half of the school’s upcoming men’s basketball game. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that the attempt will happen during Saturday’s game. University officials say the current record belongs to Loughborough University in Loughborough, England. They say 1,175 people gathered in holiday sweaters on December 10th, 2014.

A wamego man has been arrested on drug charges. Riley County Police arrested 23-year-old Anthony Michael Brazzle at the Riley County Police Department on Friday afternoon. Brazzle was arrested on five counts, two of which included the intent to sell and distribute stimulants. The Manhattan High girls and boys basketball teams will head into the holiday break undefeated after sweeping the Blue Jays at Junction City High School. The MHS girls (5-0) dominated from start to finish with a wire to wire 63-27 win over the Lady Blue Jays (0-5). Manhattan was paced by three in double figures with Garrin Williams leading the Tribe with a career high 13 points. Gigi McAtee and Madison Mittie each finished with 10 points. The scene of a fatal shooting last week has now been listed for sale on the housing market. 21-year old Tyler Nelson died of a gunshot wound to the chest after unlawfully entering the home of 62-year old Richard Lee Smith shortly after midnight last Friday. KMAN received a tip through social media indicating the home where the shooting occurred is now listed for sale on realtor.com. Riley County and K-State Police Departments are working in conjunction to identify a suspect wanted in connection with a series of lewd acts on campus and in the community.
