A 58-year-old man convicted of aggravated indecent liberties and solicitation of a child in Pottawatomie County 20 years ago has been discharged from the Kansas Department of Corrections. Chester Sexton was discharged September 24th with the expiration of his sentence. Sexton was convicted of the two indecent liberties charges in connection with cases that occurred in 1992 and 1993. He was sentenced in 1996. He was held in El Dorado since July of 2013. ### A Kansas Department of Corrections inmate serving time for first degree murder and rape convictions in Geary County has apparently been passed over for parole.…

WICHITA — A newspaper report says young and politically unaffiliated Kansas residents are most likely to be affected by the state’s plans to purge the names of people with incomplete registrations from its voter lists. More than half of the prospective voters with incomplete registrations list no party affiliation. The Eagle also said more than 40 percent are under 30. The newspaper analyzed a list of nearly 36,700 suspended registrations obtained from Secretary of State Kris Kobach’s office. Updated: 11:15 a.m. Tuesday: The three persons of interest in the graffiti cases turned themselves in to the Kansas State University Police Department at approximately 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28. Kansas State Police made that announcement Tuesday morning. The following people were issued notices to appear in Manhattan City Court for criminal damage to property: Cassie Enright, 20, Joanna Pineda, 20, and Jon D. Groskurth, 20. All three are Kansas State University students and were cooperative in the investigation. CHICAGO (AP)– Chris Denorfia hit a pinch-hit home run leading off the bottom of the 11th inning to give the Chicago Cubs a 1-0 victory over the Kansas City Royals on Monday night. Denorfia hit the first pitch from reliever Miguel Almonte (0-2) into the left-field bleacher for the Cubs’ major league-leading 13th walk-off victory of the season.
