Officers with the Riley County Police Department responded to a collision involving three vehicles Monday night at about 6:15 at the intersection of College Heights Road and Sunset Avenue in Manhattan. Kevin Williams, 34, of Manhattan was traveling south bound on Sunset Avenue while driving a 2001 Buick Century and Madison Hays, 18,  of Manhattan was driving a 2006 Jeep Commander west bound on College Heights Road when her vehicle collided with Williams’ Buick. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday evening for a K-State student who was killed earlier this month. The K-State Black Student Union, along with the Division of Biology, will host a Memorial Service for Briona White at 6:30 p.m. As KMAN announced just a day after White’s death, the 22-year-old was killed in a shooting while visiting her hometown of Chicago in early August. The University Community is invited to join together on the steps of Chalmers Hall, as White’s memory is honored.

Rock Creek’s USD 323 met with more success than Manhattan/Ogden’s USD 383 before the State Finance Council, in asking for emergency aid Monday. Rock Creek is to receive $141,000 of the $229,000 requested, with Manhattan/Ogden only getting $26,000 of the $498,000 requested. Fortunately for Rock Creek,  district enrollment per capita grew by five percent this year. On September 21st, the district  will submit official numbers to the state to receive additional funding this year. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)– Omar Infante led a seven-run charge in the sixth inning to support a strong start by Kris Medlen, helping the Kansas City Royals beat the Baltimore Orioles 8-3 on Monday night. GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP)– The Green Bay Packers’ fear that Jordy Nelson sustained a season-ending knee injury on Sunday was confirmed. The Packers announced Monday afternoon that Nelson will miss the entire season. While the team did not specify Nelson’s injury, a source told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter that a MRI revealed Nelson tore his ACL, but everything else in his knee was intact. “It was determined that WR Jordy Nelson sustained a significant right knee injury in yesterday’s game at Pittsburgh,” the Packers said in a statement. “He will miss the remainder of the season.” Coach Mike McCarthy…
