(Courtesy K-State Media) The Kansas State University Police Department is investigating an aggravated battery that involved an altercation between two students on the Manhattan campus, resulting in one student being stabbed. As first reported by the K-State Collegian, at approximately 2:00 A.M. on Wednesday, Oct. 5, two Kansas State University students got into an altercation in their room on the sixth floor of Marlatt Hall. The Wamego City Commission approved an engineering study at Tuesday’s meeting. City Manager Merl Page informed the Governing Body that he’d talked to an engineer about a study to eliminate a lift station in the northern part of the City. Page said the engineering study would cost about $23,000 and would include a field evaluation design and bid documents. He said by eliminating the lift station, it would also eliminate continued maintenance problems and could position the City for future development to the North. RCPD filed a report for the offense of motor vehicle theft in the 2300 block of Stagg Hill Road in Manhattan yesterday. Officers were told that Enterprise had become the victim of theft when a 2016 Chevy Cruze was not returned or paid for by a customer. At the time of this report, officers were investigating this loss of approximately $20,516. No arrests had been made at the time of this report. Updated Wednesday evening: A Manhattan man who is a K-State student now faces a murder charge in connection with a Wichita shooting reported Monday. Dane Thomas Owens, 27, was originally charged with attempted murder in the shooting which left a 22-year-old woman in critical condition. She has since died. Booking reports indicate on Wednesday, that charge has been upgraded to intentional first-degree murder. Earlier reports were that the unidentified victim and Owens were in a relationship but had broken up a few weeks ago. Solomon Yoseph Grice, a fire control repairer with 101st Brigade Support Battalion, 1st Armored Brigade Combat Team, 1st Inf.
