The Wamego City Commission reviewed the Kansas Sampler Festival results. At Tuesday’s meeting, the Kansas Sampler Festival committee, Michele Crisler, Bunny McCloud, and Betsy Riblett, informed the Commission the net profit from the two-year festival was over $34,000. Crisler said the Festival had a very positive effect on both Wamego and Kansas. She said because it was such a picturesque event, she asked for approval to put together a commemorative photo album, wanting to print 25 copies, with some going to the Library and City offices, and selling the remainder. KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)– Jarrod Dyson hit a two-run single in the eighth inning to lead the Kansas City Royals to a 3-1 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Tuesday night. Dyson scored later in the inning on Alcides Escobar’s single to put the Royals up 3-0, and they won for the 11th time in 14 games. Manhattan city commissioners passed a measure Tuesday night that will issue industrial revenue bonds for Manko Window Systems, Inc., for two new additions to its existing building. The bonds totals $7.75 million and passed 5-0. Industrial revenue bonds are tax-exempt loans issued by state or local governments to finance a private company’s expansion, construction or acquisition of manufacturing facilities and equipment. Manko, which began with just two employees in 1989, employs 250 in Manhattan alone and has expanded operations to Aurora, Colo., and Des Moines, Iowa. In accordance with Executive Order 10-12, Governor Sam Brownback on Tuesday ordered flags in Kansas to be flown at half-staff from sun-up to sun-down through Saturday, July 25, 2015. The department says that the scam involves someone posing as a K-State student stuck in a foreign country, in need of money. The scammer has used an altered student identification card in an attempt to validate his or her story. Officers with the Riley County Police Department served an arrest warrant for extradition on Monday, while at the Riley County Police Department. Trevor Clements, 28, of Junction City, was arrested on this warrant originating in Payne County, Oklahoma.
