As previously announced by KMAN, Anthony Brazzle, 22, of Manhattan was arrested Thursday evening on drug-related and other charges. Brazzle was taken into custody at approximately 6:40 PM while in the 1500 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard.  Offenses include possession of opiates, opium, narcotic drugs or certain stimulants and a warrant for probation violation from Manhattan Municipal Court. Brazzle’s total bond is $4,356. Riley County Police released information on Brazzle Thursday, including his photograph in order to assist the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office in locating him. Unemployment percentages are up just a little in the Manhattan area, according to numbers just released by the Kansas Department of Labor. The Manhattan metro area including Riley and Pottawatomie Counties had a 3.7 percent rate in May compared to 3.4 in April. The Manhattan metro with Junction City’s micropolitan area was 4.3 percent, also up from four percent the month before. Individually the city of Manhattan had a 3.3 percent rate, with Junction City at 6.1. The Manhattan metro area had the lowest unemployment rate in the state with its 3.7 percent number. The Kansas Board of Regents has approved 2 percent increases in the base salaries of the top administrators at five state universities, including Kansas State University. The board approved the additional compensation Thursday. University of Kansas Chancellor Bernadette Gray-Little will receive a base salary of about $510,000 for the fiscal year beginning July 1. The increase is $10,000. Kansas State University President Kirk Schulz will see his salary rise about $9,300 to $476,000. However Schulz announced Friday morning while he very much appreciates the 2 percent raise, since the university was not able to provide a campuswide salary pool this year…

Former K-State golfer Robert Streb finished his first round of the U.S. Open at Chambers Bay with a four-over 74. He finished his round with five bogeys and one birdie. Topeka native Gary Woodland also checked in with a 74 with his first round. His card tallied six bogeys and two birdies. Woodland was hospitalized after his round with severe dehydration and sources say Woodland is hoping to be better for his 2nd round later on Friday afternoon.
