A man who was arrested after a series of thefts that caused an hours-long lock-down on the K-State campus in September has reached a plea deal. According to the Associated Press, 20-year-old Johnathon Ryan Elliott pleaded no contest to one count of aggravated robbery after reaching an agreement with prosecutors to drop five other counts. Authorities say that Elliott admitted he was a part of planning the robberies, provided transportation during them and that he had kept a portion of the stolen goods. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Wesley Moore, 25, of Junction City, Kansas on January 6, 2016 at approximately 7:30 PM while at the Riley County Police Department. Moore was arrested on a warrant from 2015 for the offenses of burglary, conspiracy to commit burglary, and theft in Riley County. He was given a bond of $5,000.00. BALDWIN CITY — Fourteen dogs have died in a northeast Kansas house fire that their owner narrowly escaped. The Lawrence Journal-World reports that Kevin Matthews awoke Tuesday morning to smoke filling his room. He broke through a bedroom window of his home near the Douglas County town of Baldwin and jumped out. Matthews says he then flagged down a driver, who helped him call 911. On December 31, 2015 at approximately 10 p.m., the staff of the Geary County Detention Center responded to a cell where an inmate was reportedly attempting suicide. The inmate has been identified as 27-year old Kyle William Andrews of Manhattan. Andrews was being held on a Grandview Plaza Municipal Court warrant for Failure to Appear. Corrections Staff immediately entered the cell and began life saving measures. JC Fire and EMS arrived and took over, they transported Andrews to Geary Community Hospital. The Wamego City Commission adopts resolutions and Charter Ordinances. At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager Merl Page presented a resolution to update the list of the City’s equipment and the rates charged to other public agencies. The ordinance also covers the average wages paid for use of the equipment. The motion passed by a vote of 5 to 0. In other business, the Commission passed two Charter Ordinances covering City Elections after the State of Kansas changed the election laws. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Darryl Wheeler Jr., 44, of Manhattan while in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza for the offense of failure to appear. This arrest took place on January 5, 2016 at approximately 10:15 AM and caused Wheeler to be confined on a bond of $5,000.00. Wheeler was arrested as a result of a warrant from Riley County with an original offense of use or possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia.
