Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Edward Charles Cavenee, 30, Manhattan, at 6:45 p.m. on Friday at 1130 Garden Way. His charges include four violations of the violent offender registration act, it is his second offense. Cavenee’s bond is set at $5,000. ### Also arrested on a $40,000 bond was Ramiro Flores Escamilla Jr., 32, of Manhattan. Escamilla was taken into custody at about 5:30 Friday evening in the 1000 block of Pierre Street. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas legislators aren’t quite done with their work for the year because they inadvertently enacted two conflicting versions of a new law aimed at holding down local property taxes. House Speaker Ray Merrick’s office said Friday that legislators will reconvene June 26 to pass a bill addressing the problem. Spokeswoman Rachel Whitten described it as a technical fix. Legislators already were scheduled to have a brief adjournment ceremony that day. As previously announced by KMAN, Anthony Brazzle, 22, of Manhattan was arrested Thursday evening on drug-related and other charges. Brazzle was taken into custody at approximately 6:40 PM while in the 1500 block of Tuttle Creek Boulevard. Offenses include possession of opiates, opium, narcotic drugs or certain stimulants and a warrant for probation violation from Manhattan Municipal Court. Brazzle’s total bond is $4,356. Riley County Police released information on Brazzle Thursday, including his photograph in order to assist the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office in locating him.
