Updated 6:30 a.m. Friday: Riley County Police have apparently arrested a 22-year-old Manhattan man the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department had been attempting to locate. According to RCPD’s early morning arrest report, Anthony Brazzle was taken into custody shortly before 8:30 Thursday night. Charges include drug possession and probation violation, with a bond of $4,356. Smoke and career aspirations were on the rise at Manhattan Fire Department Headquarters Thursday, as the department finished up its annual training of new recruits, with a series of live burns. Recruit Scott Helberg told KMAN that he and fellow recruits have been going through “a lot of school work” in addition to participating in various evolution training, which simulates real life fire emergencies. Helberg served as back up crew in Thursday’s simulation of a basement fire, which saw the recruits battling flames in full gear. Blanton picked up his first victory in nearly two years with five solid innings and Alcides Escobar equaled his career high with four RBI as the Kansas City Royals pounded the Milwaukee Brewers 10-2 on Wednesday night. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) A federal judge has freed pending trial a couple accused of laundering millions of dollars for a Mexican cartel drug at a small Kansas bank. Court filings in U.S. District Court in Kansas on Wednesday show George and Agatha Enns of Meade, Kansas, have been released from jail on secured bonds of $100,000 each. An indictment alleges that between 2011 and 2014, the couple deposited more than $6.8 million into their account at Plains State Bank.
