Riley County Police are investigating a theft that occurred on January 6, 2025, at approximately 5:30 PM at the intersection of N. Scenic Drive and Miller Parkway. A 34-year-old male reported that his trailer, which was hauling a washer, dryer, and other items, was stolen by an unknown subject. The total estimated loss from this theft is $1,400. The Riley County Police Department is asking anyone with information regarding the theft to contact Crime Stoppers. Tipsters can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward of up to $1,000. Several individuals and pets were displaced following a Sunday night fire in Pottawatomie County. 15 firefighters responded to a fire call in the 5300 Block of Highway 99. Crews from Louisville Township Fire, City of Wamego Fire, Belvue Township Fire and Pottawatomie County Consolidated Fire District #1-St. George responded to the scene. A small electrical fire in the basement of the structure was quickly knocked down. KDOT and the City of Wamego road crews assisted with getting the fire crews to the location. The first round of projects includes six bridge projects and three culverts.
