The Manhattan Fire Department has been conducting hazardous materials training with the Kansas National Guard 73 Civil Support Team. This training, which is scheduled for May 19th, 20th, and 21st, will be held on the Kansas State University campus-east of Bill Snyder Family Stadium for the last day of training. The department’s hazardous material team provides response within the city limits, but also serves as a regional response team for the state of Kansas. The Kansas Veterans’ Cemetery at Fort Riley located near Manhattan will honor fallen veterans and their loved ones again this year on Memorial Day. The Commemorative Service is open to the public and will begin at 11:00 am, May 26th at the Kansas Veterans Cemetery at 5181 Wildcat Creek Road near the Manhattan Regional Airport.
