KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP)   The Chiefs will have to get used to playing away from Arrowhead Stadium. Kansas City opens the season at home against Tennessee on Sept. 7, and then has just one more home game over the first seven weeks. The Junction City/Geary County Crime Stoppers has teamed up with the Junction City Police Department, Grandview Police Department and the Geary County Sheriff’s Department to obtain new software to make leaving a tip for crimestoppers easier. In a press release, sent out Wednesday afternoon, police announced-if someone wants to leave a text tip, they need to start their message with “tipjc” followed by their tip, and send it to “CRIMES”-which is 274637. A Fort Riley man pleaded guilty Tuesday, to making false material statements to the Social Security Administration.  KMAN received this news from US. Attorney, Barry Grissom Wednesday. James Nickerson (37) pleaded guilty to one count of making a false official statement to a federal agency.  In this plea, he admitted he was paid $71,734 in disability benefits by the Social Security Administration that he was not eligible to receive. While receiving these disability benefits, he worked full time for the Army doing various duties, including serving as a platoon sergeant while he claimed to be disabled.  Nickerson attempted to conceal his actual work…

A four-run second inning triggered the K-State offense in a 13-0 rout of Cal State Bakersfield on Tuesday night at Tointon Family Stadium. The Cats bounced back from a loss to the Roadrunners on Monday night, when they had 16 baserunners, but scored just two runs. Back-to-back singles from Shane Conlon and Blair DeBord and a walk issued to Mitch Meyer loaded the bases with nobody out in the 2nd. CLEVELAND (AP) James Shields allowed two runs in six innings and Mike Moustakas hit a three-run homer to lead the Kansas City Royals to an 8-2 win over the Cleveland Indians on Tuesday night. Shields struck out nine and won his second straight start. Moustakas’ homer sparked Kansas City’s four-run fourth that featured five hits. The Royals are 10-0 when scoring at least four runs.
