The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of burglaries, thefts and damage to property reports that have occurred within the county. These crimes have primarily taken place in the central and northern parts of the county. The first crime is said to have occurred between July 20th and September 20th of this year, in the area of Arispie Road and Hartwich Road. The suspect(s) kicked in the back door of the trailer to gain entry, and damaged several interior doors and a wall. The estimated damage is around $375. The Kansas State Police Department continues to warn students and public about possible active phone scams in the area. The Kansas State Division of Communications and Marketing says victims of these phone scams report to be Kansas State police officers, calling to collect past and present debts and fines. K-State says they will never call to collect fines or past debts to the university. Anyone receiving calls like the scam described should never provide personal information, and instead call the K-State Police Department immediately at 785-532-6412.
As KMAN has previously reported, an affidavit regarding a first degree murder case of a Fort Riley soldier, indicates a five week old infant suffered several injuries back in February when the alleged incident occurred. The man was arrested in connection with this case late last month, and appeared in Riley County District Court Tuesday afternoon. Alexander McConnell (22) is charged with murder in the first degree and abuse of a child. He appeared in court via web cam. McConnell’s attorney, Lora Ingels stated there is a “massive” amount of discovery to review in this case, and asked that it be…

Wamego Police are investigating the theft of a truck from Ebert Construction. The theft was reported Monday morning and involves a white 2014 F-450 from Ebert Construction at 103 West Valley Street in Wamego. The Kansas tag number is 601155. Estimated loss is $45,000.
