A 77-year-old Blue Rapids woman was taken to the hospital following a one vehicle accident in northern Riley County early Wednesday afternoon. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Pansy Randolph was injured when the 2006 Cadillac DTS passenger car she was driving was northbound on highway 77, went left of center and left the roadway, entering the west ditch and striking a guard rail. The vehicle overturned and came to rest on the passenger side. The accident occurred at 12:15 p.m. about a half mile south of Randolph. Pansy Randolph was wearing a seat belt. CONWAY SPRINGS, Kan. (AP) An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 4.8 has shaken parts of Kansas and Oklahoma. The U.S. Geological Survey says the quake struck around 3:40 p.m. Wednesday. It had an epicenter about 8 miles south of Conway Springs, which is a town of about 1,200 people about 30 miles southwest of Wichita. It wasn’t immediately clear how much damage the quake may have caused. The southern part of Kansas has been experiencing an upsurge in earthquakes this year. A panel commissioned by Kansas Gov. An Earthquake measuring 4.8 on the Richter scale struck near Wellington, Kansas at about 3:40 p.m. Wednesday and was felt in the Manhattan area. Riley County Emergency Management Director Pat Collins tells KMAN he spoke with personnel at Tuttle Creek Dam who said the quake was not strong enough to set off any alarms there. Phone calls and tweets came into KMAN saying they felt the quake for five to 10 seconds and the quake was felt by some at the KMAN studios and offices. Over a year after Governor, Sam Brownback issued his call to action to develop a vision for the state of Kansas’s water supply, the second draft has been completed. Brownback spoke about the 80 page draft during Wednesday’s conference on the future of the water in Kansas, at the Hilton Garden Inn. Brownback summarized the entire process, and spoke about the future. He commented, “we are going to fight tooth and toenail against federal control over our water.
