Riley County Police indicate a report of theft was filed in the 2800 block of Nelson’s Landing in Manhattan on Sunday at approximately 9:10 AM. Tony Dugan, 34, of Leonardville reported a burnt orange 2005 Pontiac G6 was taken from in front of a friend’s home. The vehicle was left unsecured and with keys in the ignition. Vowing he would better himself and saying he wishes he could go back and change things,  Jerred Snyder, 30, of Manhattan was sentenced to 72 months for the kidnapping in early April of  Richard Rothfuss, 69, of Junction City. Snyder was also sentenced to 59 months for aggravated battey and 19 months for making a false writing, to serve concurrently with the six year kidnapping sentence. On Friday Kansas State University president Kirk Schulz looked back on the accomplishments of the year, and what lies ahead in the future for the institution. As previously reported by KMAN KSU enrollment numbers are up, and according to Schulz the show more diversity than previous years.  Over 2,000 international students are attending K-State.  Schulz says the diversity seen in the classrooms will help orient students to a diverse workplace in the future. The Kansas City Royals earned their first playoff berth since 1985 with a 3-0 win over the Chicago White Sox on Friday night…but there’s still a lot on the line as they wrap up the regular season on Sunday. The University of Kansas has relieved Charlie Weis of his duties as head football coach, effective early Sunday morning.  The news was reported on KU’s official athletics website.  Defensive Coordinator Clint Bowen will take over on an interim basis.  Weis was in the third year of a five year contract.
