K-State senior forward Thomas Gipson was arrested in Geary County yesterday on suspicion of driving while his licence was revoked. Gipson was stopped for speeding on US-77 near the I-70 junction at 11:56 a.m. He was booked into the Geary County Detention Center after a check showed that his licence had been revoked. He was later released on a $1,000 bond. Gipson averaged over 11 points and 5 rebounds per game as a junior last season for the Wildcats.

K-State will appear on national television in a school record 17 of their 18 Big 12 games. The league released the full Big 12 schedule on Thursday. The Wildcats will be on ESPN or ESPN2 nine times, ESPNU six times and ESPNNews twice. When the Riley County Commission began their budget process in June, department heads and outside entities attended commission meetings to make their budget requests.  After all the requests were made, they were compiled into a budget the commission could look at and make changes to. During Thursday’s commission meeting, Budget and Finance Officer, Johnette  Shepek said the original budget had a mill levy of 41.599, which would have been a 4.507 mill increase from the 2014 budget.  She mentioned several departments were able to make cuts within their budgets, in order to get the mill levy down. A Junction City man apparently is in trouble with law enforcement authorities in two different counties, with records of arrests in both Geary and Riley counties the past few days. Devoris Newson, 27, was taken into custody  by Riley County Police shortly before 1:30 Wednesday afternoon on a failure to appear warrant, reportedly originating from Geary county. A former Executive Officer with the Flint Hills Area Builders Association has entered a plea in connection with several felony theft charges.  Tracy Shane Roberts, 45, of Wamego entered the no contest plea last week, a couple of days before he was to have a jury trial in the case.   Court records indicated the plea agreement, with Senior County Deputy Attorney Barry Disney confirming the no contest plea Thursday (Aug 14). A 24-year-old Wamego man was arrested Wednesday evening following a reported domestic dispute in the 700 block of Chestnut Street.   Wamego Asst. Police Chief Paul Schliffke tells KMAN the call came in about 4:30 p.m. Only minor injuries were reported.   Pottawatomie County Attorney Sherri Schuck has identified the suspect as Samuel Rutschmann of Wamego. Rutschmann is currently in custody and awaiting formal charges of aggravated battery, criminal threat, and possession of drug paraphernalia.   Bond has been set at $5,000.
