OLATHE, Kan. (AP) Police in Olathe are seeking witnesses to a confrontation that left an officer with a broken leg. The police department in the Kansas City suburb says officers responded to a call around 5 p.m. Monday about a man and woman involved in a disturbance at a park. Police say the man tried to leave the scene, then got into a fight with the officer who was injured. The suspect was booked into the Johnson County Jail. The officer has been placed on medical leave. Police said Tuesday they want to hear from anyone who saw the altercation.

The Flint Hills Regional Council announced that as of September 1, 2014 William J. Clark has officially resigned from his one-year post as the Flint Hills Regional Council (FHRC) Executive Director, in order to continue full time as Director of Business Operations for the USD 475 Geary County School District. Three individuals appeared in Riley County District Court on Monday afternoon, one of which was charged with involuntary manslaughter. The man charged in connection with the death of a K-State student back in November of last year, appeared in Riley County District Court via web cam. As KMAN has previously reported, Gregory Melvin Haug Jr., of Olathe, is charged with involuntary manslaughter, possession of opiates and/or narcotics, conspiracy and obstruction of the legal process.  This links back to the November 20th incident, where Jordan Forbit was found dead in a K-State residence hall parking lot. Wamego’s USD 320 is welcoming 17 new teachers for the 2014-15 school year. At Monday’s Board of Education meeting, the respective principals introduced their staff to the Board. Central Elementary Principal Teri Dow introduced eight teachers, while West Elementary Principal Amy Flinn, Wamego Middle School Principal Viki Jennings and Wamego High School Principal Tim Winters each introduced three new teachers. A group of firefighters stormed the stairs of the Town Pavillion in Kansas City on Saturday.   Manhattan Fire Department Captain Micah Hydeman says the event pays tribute to the huge amount of physical and mental valor of firefighters during 9/11.   Over 300 fire fighters from all over the midwest participate in the 110 story climb at the Town Pavillion in Kansas City.
