A Junction City man faces a November trial on rape and aggravated indecent liberties with a child charges.  Allen Amenson, 27, entered a not guilty plea during his arraignment Monday in Geary County District court.   A three day trial has been set to begin November 18th. Amenson was taken into custody in early May on two counts each of rape and aggravated indecent liberties.

A 26-year-old Wamego woman died in an accident on K-99 Monday afternoon. Stephanie Kickbush died in the accident, reported at 3:17 p.m. approximately one mile north of Wamego. According to the Kansas Highway Patrol, Kickbush was driving a 2009 Yamaha Motorcycle southbound on K-99, with a 1999 Ford F-250 Pickup northbound. The truck was attempting a left turn across southbound lanes into the driveway, and the motorcycle struck the truck. The driver of the truck, Robert Heptig, 54, of Wamego, was not injured. Kickbush was wearing a helmet but was pronounced dead, after being taken to Wamego Health Center.

KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) One of four remaining clinics that provide abortions in Kansas has closed amid a hostile political climate and financial challenges. Its outgoing manager said Monday the decision was also prompted by a “lack of gratitude” from a young generation of women who take its abortion services for granted. The Aid For Women clinic in Kansas City, Kansas, disclosed on its website that the clinic closed Saturday. Patients are being referred to two clinics in suburban Kansas City and one in Wichita. 29 years of service will finally come to a close for Riley County Treasurer, Eileen King, as she heads into retirement effective August 1st. During Monday’s Riley County Commission meeting, King was presented with a plaque for her service.  County Commission Chair, Robert Boyd said a few words, and reflected on how King has shaped the office into a better place. King said when she first came to the treasurer’s office, everything was done by typewriter.
