A Manhattan man faces several charges, including aggravated indecent solicitation of a child, following his arrest late Tuesday afternoon. Junction City Police reported the arrest of Trevor Triffet, 20, on charges which also include electronic solicitation and sexual exploitation of a child. The JCPD report indicatesTriffet was arrested shortly before 4:30 p.m. in Manhattan. JCPD Lt. Jeff Childs tells KMAN the case involved electronic devices used for communication, and included pictures and text messages that were sent. The victim is described as a 12-year-old female. The Wamego City Commission heard the annual reports from two entities. At Tuesday’s meeting, Convention and Visitors Bureau (CVB) Chair Chris Hupe went over the highlights of 2013. He said the CVB had another solid year with the expansion of a local motel and overall community growth. He said Wamego may be small in population, but in the world of tourism, Wamego has become mighty. The Oz Museum had 30-thousand registered visitors, with 18-thousand out-of-state, 11-thousand within the state and over 1-thousand international visitors in 2013. The Manhattan City Commission authorized City Administration to seek a consultant to evaluate and recommend improvements to Parks and Recreation facilities around town. “City Park, Cico Park, Anneberg Park, this list includes a variety of different fields and parks around town,” said Eddie Eastes, Manhattan’s parks and recreation director. “I just want you to understand we’ll be wanting to look at a large number of sports facilities, both indoor and outdoor.” Financing the project will be a serious challenge. Riley County Commissioners also serve as the Riley County Board of Health, and held their first official meeting back in February. The board plans to hold three meetings every year. Tuesday evening was the second meeting for the board, and focused on the 2015 fiscal year budget plans. Riley County Health Department Director, Brenda Nickel began with some opening comments, and provided a few overall statistics. This year, Riley County invested $14 per resident for public health. Carlin was first elected to serve the 66th District in 2002.
