  A gift of more than $629,000 is heading to the Department of Military Science at Kansas State. K-State’s Director of Military Affairs Art DeGroat tells KMAN the gift is from the estate of Lt. Colonel Albert E. Hylton III, to establish a fund in his father’s name, the Albert E. More than $25,000 in damage is being reported by T-Mobile of Overland Park for property located at a Manhattan location.   Riley County Police indicate that Thursday at approximately 11:00 AM, police took a report for criminal damage to property in the 2200 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd.  Police were told that a hybrid Fiber Optic cable approximately 150 feet long was damaged.   The damaged cable belongs to T-Mobile of Overland Park.   Currently no arrests have been made.   ### Two Manhattan men face citations after reports of taking down city street signs in the area of the 1800  block…

A five-run sixth inning rallied K-State past Baylor on Thursday night 8-2 at Tointon Family Stadium. The Cats trailed the Bears 2-1 entering the frame, when Tyler Stover scored on an error by Baylor pitcher Brad Kuntz. The next two batters struck out, and then senior all-American Ross Kivett came through with a 2-out 2-run single to give K-State the lead. HOUSTON (AP) James Shields struck out 12 in eight innings and the Kansas City Royals completed a three-game sweep of the Houston Astros with a 5-1 win on Thursday night. Shields gave up one run and four hits, all singles. He got back to his winning ways after seeing his nine-game road victory streak snapped in his last start at Minnesota when sloppy defense led to six unearned runs in a 7-1 loss. Riley County Firefighters were called to Dry Creek Equestrian Center in the 3800 block of 69th Avenue in rural Riley County Thursday afternoon. While no real damage was reported to structures or property, County Fire Chief Pat Collins tells KMAN the fire came from a neighboring property, with varying winds, which he says is probably the “most dangerous winds to burn in.”  He says the wind was blowing out of the south and all of a sudden shifted to the north, onto the Dry Creek property.  Some 40 acres were affected. Manhattan Ogden USD 383 School Board members joined Manhattan City Commissioners, Riley County Commissioners and Pottawatomie County Commissioners during their joint meeting on Thursday, to share details about their budget planning for the upcoming school year.
